Based on historical sources and tales passed down orally through storytelling, Erant explores the folkloric history of Aosta Valley, a northern alpine region in Italy. Interpreting three legends which have been handed down from the Franco-Provençal folklore.
The project came to life situated on the regional territory of Aosta Valley. Enhancing its rural landscapes and following the dramatic stories of three young women, a nymph, a shepherdess and a peasant girl, who were entwined between folklore and tragedy.

The project is based on the book ‘Légendes et récits recueillis sur les bords du Lys’ written by Abbot Jean-Jacques Christillin. Published in Aosta Valley in 1901, it transcribes French local folklore passed down orally in the Franco-Provençal language.
The project will be submitted to several national and international film festivals. We plan to organize an exclusive first screening in Aosta Valley in 2024.
The project won the Séquences et Conséquences competition organised by the Aosta Valley Film Commission. Enrico Granzotto is the author and director, guided by the historical advice of Cesare Marguerettaz and technical supervision of film experts Massimiliano Nardulli and Massimo D’Orzi.
